Abortion Pill FAQs

Is it safe to order abortion pills online?

The FDA does not recommend ordering abortion pills online due to a lack of safety measures.

Is everyone eligible for abortion pills?

No. There are many restrictions, including health history, the type of pregnancy, how far along you are, and more. Learn more about side effects, potential allergic reactions, what to expect if it fails, and more.

What if I'm more than 10 weeks pregnant?

The FDA has approved for the abortion pill to be taken only during the first 70 days of pregnancy. We can talk through all the pregnancy options that apply to your situation.

How can an ultrasound help?

A limited obstetrical ultrasound can confirm the location of the pregnancy, estimate your due date, rule out an ectopic pregnancy, and verify if the pregnancy is viable. We can provide this for you at no cost.

Do i need to get tested for sTDs before an abortion?

While it is not necessary to get tested before an abortion, we do recommend ruling out an infection that can cause an increase of side effects after an abortion.

Your Health & Safety Checklist

Before you pay for an abortion, rule out a naturally occurring miscarriage. If the pregnancy is not viable, the abortion pill should not be taken. A positive pregnancy test is an indicator of pregnancy, not a verification. We offer free pregnancy confirmations with ultrasound.

It’s important to rule out an ectopic pregnancy through an ultrasound before you buy or take abortion pills because findings could make an abortion unnecessary.

The FDA has approved for the abortion pill to be taken only during the first 70 days of pregnancy. We can provide a free ultrasound to determine how far along you are and then talk through all the pregnancy options that apply to your situation.

If you are considering an abortion procedure, ruling out a sexually transmitted infection or disease can prevent further infection or complications. We provide comprehensive STI/STD and UTI testing for free. All clients who test positive for an STI/STD or UTI can receive antibiotic treatment from Elevation Women’s Healthcare free of charge, with no insurance needed.

This can determine if you need a RhoGAM shot after an abortion is complete. If you are Rh-negative, we can provide a referral to our network of local OB-GYNs.
